Meet the man behind Dagen Trucking
Jeff Dagen

Meet Jeff Dagen, owner of Dagen Trucking. Dagen started his business hauling steel pipe, turbines, and air handling systems with just a Mack Truck, a 48-foot flatbed trailer and a small loan from his former boss. In his early years, Dagen was employed on vegetable farms in Latham and spent a decade as a laborer, truck driver and manager for Albany Steel in Menands. During his time at Albany Steel, Dagen saw an opportunity to make money transporting heavy equipment in addition to being determined to bring a brand new industry to the Capital Region. In short, in his first year, Dagen made $75,000 in revenue and grew that business to gross $50 million in 2018. And Dagen Trucking is still growing.

Replacing 3 Sections of a Kiln at Norlite

On January 7, 2020, Dagen Trucking began assisting NAK-Kiln Services in replacing three sections of a kiln at Norlite in Cohoes, NY. Norlite manufactures ceramic materials used in masonry, bridge construction, and other applications, and uses large rotary kilns in the process.

Dagen transported the three sections out and moved the new pieces in, using our Oshkosh prime mover and oilfield trailer. This job required 24-hour service from our drivers, as plants like this can’t be shut down for more than a few days. Rotating two 12-hour shifts, Dagen helped complete an expected three-day job in just a day and a half.

Investing in Albany’s Future

This year Dagen added to their Albany-based headquarters and storage warehouses by investing in an additional warehouse on the Port of Albany.

Dagen’s new Port of Albany warehouse is a heavy-lift, climate-controlled warehouse with access to a 1,000-ton Gantry crane, and 12-line Faymonville self-propelled trailers on site. The warehouse also has access to a roll on/roll off dock. This allows Dagen to receive shipments straight off of the water. This dock also gives Dagen the ability to receive and haul/store massive pieces of freight, such as; wind turbines, generators and train car shells.
